Being online is part of kids’ lives. When they’re online, kids watch and create content, post photos, videos, play games, and share what they’re doing with friends and family. But when they post, play, and connect, they can encounter people and situations that aren’t always what they seem. What can you do to help protect them?
To help the kids in your life be safe online, Heads Up: Stop. Think. Connect has some ideas to get a conversation started with them. It’s a free resource, available in twelve languages from Amharic to Vietnamese.
Heads Up: Stop. Think. Connect can help you show kids how to use technology responsibly. By talking with them, you let kids know they have a trusted adult to help them when they make mistakes. And, for families more comfortable in other languages, check it out in your language. (Scroll down to find the dozen languages, or click the Spanish link at the top.) Then pick a section and read it with the kid in your life to see how to share with care, be kind online, stand up to cyberbullying, and protect their (and your) personal information.
